As expected and predicted -- Swine Flu back with a vengeance

This week Obama declared Swine Flu a National Emergency. President Obama's declaration allows hospitals and local governments to speedily set up alternate sites and procedures if needed to handle any surge of patients.

This should come as no surprise to anyone who listened to the experts discuss the seasonal variation in flu outbreaks. We had a mild outbreak this spring. It dissapated over the summer. Now, its back, and will be much worse, as expected, than the spring outbreak.

Patients who are at the beginning or end of life (the very young or the very old), pregnant women, and those with chronic diseases need to be very careful. For the rest of us, the swine flu is usually just a mild 4-5 day viral flu syndrome (fevers, aches and pains).
